Finished two books this week: Majestic by Whitley Strieber and Deviant by Harold Schechter. They were both good fast reads.
Deviant is about Ed Gein, the killer from Plainfield, Wisconsin, who killed two women and dug up the graves of about nine others. He made shrunken heads out of the corpses, latticed chairs with strips of flesh, has a skin lampshade, a “mammary vest” that he would wear, a box of mummified vulvas, a belt adorned with nipples, bowls made out of skull tops, and much much more. The book is well-written, the prose is good and clean.
Majestic is a book of fiction about the incident that happened in Roswell when a rancher found strange debris on his land, and the flying saucer story began. It is very interesting, and Strieber’s ideas about what the aliens want from us are very deep and soulful. If you like UFO novels, this is a great one to pick up.
I am currently reading Holy Blood, Holy Grail. So far it’s pretty interesting. I’ve just begun it and I already got through 104 pages. So far it’s about Rennes-le-Château, the Cathars, and the Knights Templar.
